It all happened January 15, 2010 when Addison (on her 1st birthday) my mom, dad and myself took the flight over.
A week prior, Jeff and his best friend Matt jumped in my Toyota truck (thank goodness it was stopping), grabbed Woody and traveled all 2,252 miles across country. What a journey!
After a little over a month of living in Columbus, we got to be there for a record - the MOST SNOWFALL in the month of February ever recorded at 29.8 inches!! The previous record was set in 1910 with 29.2 inches. Seriously, what are the chances??
In between all the snow shoveling,
- We joined Gymboree
- Jeff, Addison and Woody visited his parents in Chicago (just a drive away now) while I was in the UK on a business trip
- My dear friend Melissa visited us from California
- My cousin Todd and his gf Angie showed us around bars, metro areas, and restaurants
- Jeff worked on his job search
- We found a church
- We switched from Gymboree to YMCA
- Enrolled and participated in a parent-child swim class and toddler music maker class
- My in-laws visited us
- We found out the house we are renting is going into foreclosure
- We had a mini Adams family reunion
- Jeff's grandmother visited
- Jeff continued his job search
- My brother and parents visited (with them we went to COSI, celebrated Easter and my 27th birthday, shopped at Easton and went on an art tour in Short North)
- We drove to North Canton to visit my Uncle Bill, Aunt Sandy and Cousin Christine
- We got an Ohio drivers license and library card (yes, we are officially "state" citizens)
- Started training for a 1/2 marathon in September ...
In short, it's been an eventful move.
The weather change hasn't bothered us much but check back in about 5 years. My biggest complaint about the weather was the 5 (yes, I said five) mosquito bites I got in one day. I was much better off without those suckers!
We miss our family and friends back in California but love being 10 minutes from the city and are fortunate to have loads of extended family nearby.
